I've got a beta unit and it does the same thing.

Seems to be related to the suboscillator being driven really hard.  It's well known that the pre filter mixer is easily overdriven, so the convention is to keep mix levels below thirty.  If you got the suboscillator at max, then you push the pulse wave level even more, you're really not gaining anything except grit from overdriven VCAs.  Just keep the mix levels reasonable.
