[A6] newbie keyboard split question

Hello everyone, 

I just recently bought an A6, and I am confused about the keyboard split settings on it. Even when I normalize the A6 with a program on my computer, it defaults to a split keyboard. I looked in the manual and saw how to split it, but I didn't see anything about "de-splitting" if you will. I made sure the keyboard wasn't mapped in such a way that it was making a split, yet it was still there, playing this horrible organ of death sound randomly in the upper octaves. Also, certain notes won't play when I'm playing on the keyboard, but are triggered just fine with MIDI... I'm not sure how to get rid of these things! Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I apologize if this is a really stupid question...but I've tried researching it and can't seem to figure it out!!
