Hi,
I've ben using my A6 for over two years now. In the studio and live. I've
had some bizarre experience as mentionned by other users but in the end it
is my favorite all-in one analog. I own a good selection of analog synths
and the andromeda makes a good compromise of all these things. Sure it's not
as easy to use like the minimoog or the prophet 5 but it's the on I always
end up with on stage. Most of the time the singers that I work with comment
on it's nice tone and how they like the expressive stuff I get out it.
Sometimes I wish I'd work with my prophet 5 just for the vintage look
factor, but I miss the different filters, the polyphony, the after touch
etc. There is so many things you can do with a vintage instrument. My live
setup is an A6, a minimoog voyager and a nord stage + a G4 powerbook running
ableton live. I also use the m-tron and Kontakt for the samples. With the A6
I can always come up with some good emulations of the typical MS-20 sound
that seems to be flavor of the day. It really is not the same but it works.
It can sound like my oberheim SEM and the prophet 5 too. I am beginning to
use DSI Poly evolver keyboard a little more for it's digtal oscillators (VS
style). That, the A6 cannot cover.
I like the character of all my older machines but the A6 always end up on
stage. It's fairly reliable and it inspiring to play, with the controllers
and the knobs. And the good thing is that I am starting to find it's own
sound character and do things on it that no other machines do.
