Thanks Dmitry & Marzz for the OS.
I received some good news this morning! Basically I bought an A6
second hand via Sound On Sound Readers Ads here in the UK. The guy I
bought it from purchased it from Digital Village in October '06, he
had only turned it on a couple of times. Once I got the synth to my
studio I noticed tuning errors regardless of the Auto Tune status. I
turned to the net for advice, found this user community and to my
dismay learnt of the dodgy batch of Andys. After extensive testing
using Logic's tuner and advice from this list and forums I knew that
my A6 is indeed one of the dodgy batch. Thankfully the original owner
contacted Alesis on my behalf this morning (or Alesis/Numark/Akai/Ion
as they are now known!) they have agreed to repair my unit for free
despite it's being out of warranty. Needless to say I am a very happy
man, things were looking bleak for a while as I was stuck with a
useless A6 and had no intention of selling it on faulty. If there is
anyone else reading this in my position CONTACT ALESIS before it's too
late, apparently the procedure is as simple as adding a few
transistors too the board. Also I have heard that models produced in
2007 are fine.
Anyhow I'm off the the studio to package up my Andy for shipping.
I'll let you all know how it goes.
Cheers,
Martin
